TGS Well Data Scanning and Digitizing Services
Transform your physical well records into valuable digital assets with Well Data Scanning. Our service converts hardcopy data into accessible, analyzable and storable formats that easily integrate into your workflows for better data management
Introducing Well Data Scanning and Digitizing Services
Our well data scanning service converts hardcopy data into high-quality digital LAS formats, linking each dataset to a Unique Well Identifier (UWI) in our extensive database of over 4.2 million U.S. wells and 1.1 million international wells.
We’ve simplified the well data scanning process, streamlining it to deliver project-ready datasets with well locations relevant to your areas of interest. By adding metadata to each scan, clients can maximize the value of their datasets and quickly identify key wells in their project locations.
- Convert hardcopy files into digital data to minimize storage
- Integrate priority wells from major basins into your interpretations
- Access data previously unavailable or hard to find within the industry
- Retrieve a complete log suite for each well using log scans not available from other sources, including resistivity or sonic data
- Gain access to additional products such as core data and pressure data from well files
Enhance Data Management and Value
M&A Data Assessment

Reveal New Insights
Did you know that scanning and digitization projects can uncover 15–80% of new, valuable data from files that have been sitting unused in boxes? By converting your physical documents into a searchable, digital format, we help you access key findings and improve operational efficiency.
Our services ensure that previously inaccessible information becomes a powerful asset, seamlessly integrated into your database to enhance strategic planning and optimize workflows. Don’t let your data gather dust—turn it into a resource you can use every day!
Well Data Scanning and Digitization Explained
We begin by receiving hardcopy well data, which undergoes rigorous processing and quality checks to ensure it is accurately converted into a high-quality digital format. Using advanced Neuralog scanners and TGS software, we import and refine the data images to meet industry standards. The digitized data can be transformed into a range of proprietary and commercial products, including Rasters, LAS, LAS+, Mud LAS, ARLAS, core data, dipmeter data, temperature data and pressure data, depending on the dataset provided. Each dataset is processed through a quality assurance system and a precise well allocation system, ensuring accurate linking to the corresponding well and delivering maximum value to our clients.
Choose TGS for your Well Data Scanning and Digitization Needs
TGS stands out with the most comprehensive well data services available. While basic hardcopy data scanning and digitization are common across providers, TGS goes beyond by fully supporting UWI and well location data integration with scanned products. We are also the only provider offering advanced data validation and specialized services, including dipmeter and temperature log digitization, as well as Seismic Zone GIS Layer functionality.

- Well data scanning and digitizing can lead to the creation of the following data:
Sending your well data for digitization involves the following steps:
1. Project Review:
Provide TGS with sample data, including a description of the area(s) and vintages(s). We’ll review the dataset to assess its uniqueness.
2. Proposal Discussion:
We’ll send a proposal to discuss the following details:
- Commercial/Proprietary processing
- Desired resulting products
- Expected timeline
- Final disposition of the original data (returned or destroyed)
3. Data Pickup or On-Site Scanning:
Once the proposal is approved, we offer two options:
- Arrange for data pickup from your storage location to our headquarters
- Set up a team to scan and process the data on-site
4. Completion and Delivery:
After processing, we will either return the data to your specified address or securely destroy it according to regulations.
