Paper Summary
Madagascar is situated in the South West of the Indian Ocean at a distance of about 400 km off the East coast of Africa (figure 1). It is the third largest island in the world and covers an area of about 592,000 km2 . In 2003, TGS acquired, processed and interpreted 2158 line Km of good quality seismic data across the offshore regions of Western Madagascar to explore the offshore Morondava basin. Once the presence of deep water basin had been confirmed, 10300 line Km of new regional seismic data was acquired in 2005-2006 to further investigate the geology, structure and hydrocarbon potential of the basin.
