We provide exceptional multi-client and proprietary energy data and insights that have played a key role in the ongoing exploration, production, and development of Gulf of America resources. TGS is at the forefront of innovative subsurface technologies and products, helping to unlock additional reserves in one of the world's most significant super basins.

Revolutionizing Exploration in the
Gulf of America

The Gulf of America has long been a cornerstone of America's energy landscape, providing significant oil and gas reserves. As exploration ventures into increasingly challenging areas, the need for advanced seismic technologies has never been greater.

TGS' offerings provide unparalleled value by delivering high-quality, comprehensive regional datasets, including both streamer and ocean bottom node (OBN) data, which is crucial for imaging complex subsurface structures, especially in deepwater environments. This advanced data enables enhanced exploration by more accurate prospect identification,
pre-drill
estimations and risk reduction as well as more accurate reservoir characterization and life-of-field subsurface analyses. TGS’ data and insights help operators make informed decisions and optimize resource extraction in the region's challenging geological conditions.

A seismic profile (with velocity model overlay) in the Mississippi Canyon area (Fusion reprocessing) comparing a subsurface image and velocity model produced using just wide azimuth streamer data versus a subsurface image and velocity model utilizing Long Offset OBN data and Dynamic Matching Full Waveform Inversion (DM FWI) combined with wide azimuth streamer data. Long offset OBN data provides additional deep diving refracted energy utilized by DM FWI to develop a more accurate velocity model and thus significantly improved subsurface image.

Data Availability

TGS offers a wide variety of industry-leading subsurface Gulf of America data including modern 3D surveys in key areas in addition to 2D regional surveys. TGS also offers an extensive library of over 23,000 well logs, production and forecasting datasets, multibeam bathymetry, geochemical core analysis, post well analysis interpretation and carbon capture and storage (CCS) saline aquifer data.

Imaging

TGS continues to advance subsurface imaging of the complex subsalt plays through modern marine acquisition and processing initiatives. As the energy industry evolves, innovative technologies like long-offset OBN and Elastic FWI are becoming increasingly essential. These advancements not only improve our ability to find and develop new resources but also play a vital role in securing the Gulf of America’s continued contribution to America’s energy security and economic prosperity.

Recent breakthroughs in seismic technology reflect a broader trend of ongoing innovation, opening new exploration opportunities—especially in the Western Gulf of America, where traditional streamer data often falls short in delivering high-quality subsalt imaging.
