Over the last 30 years, the vast “petroliferous” margins of Brazil have consistently provided some of the largest discoveries in the world. High-quality seismic data serves as a critical tool for exploration and production companies, enabling them to unlock and develop the premier resources of the pre-salt play in the Santos and Campos Basins. 

The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) has recently expanded the Hematita Geoeconomic Valuation Project to include four additional areas: Hematita, Magnetita, Limonita, and Siderita. These new areas complement the previously announced pre-salt blocks in the Permanent Offer Program (OPP) for the Santos Basin. With this update, the total number of highly prospective blocks in the pre-salt polygon has increased to 25. 

The expanded list now includes ten areas in the Campos Basin—Citrino, Itaimbezinho, Jaspe, Larimar, Onix, Turmalina, and the newly added Hematita, Magnetita, Limonita and Siderita—and fifteen areas in the Santos Basin—Agata, Amazonita, Ametista, Aragonita, Esmeralda, Jade, Mogno, Safira Leste, Safira Oeste, Turmalina, Esmeralda, Malaquita, Opala, Quartzo and Calcedonia. These blocks are scheduled for auction under the Production Sharing Regime in H2 2025, presenting significant exploration and production opportunities in Brazil's pre-salt areas.
