Extended high-resolution (XHR), the TGS ultra-high-resolution (UHR) acquisition and imaging technology provides greater clarity to the seabed and near-surface, benefiting many offshore energy industries, including hydrocarbon exploration and appraisal, wind farm development and carbon storage mapping and monitoring.
The technology uses a wide-tow acquisition configuration combined with ultra-high frequency sources, enabling enhanced resolution and true 3D.

Combining XHR with with OBN
Our XHR technology can be combined with Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) acquisition to complement the ultra-high-resolution imaging. Our node platform's scalability is ground-breaking and tailored to fit any survey requirement. This enables us to deploy a few hundred nodes in combination with an XHR survey, which provides a cost-efficient solution.
TGS has developed a proprietary node drop and self-recovery technique. This innovative node-handling solution removes the need for an ROV vessel and allows us to use the UHR vessel for node operations. This is a step change towards more cost-effective and efficient node handling solutions.
